The Prieuré du Cœur de Jésus is a historic site that has welcomed many pilgrims from all over the world.
Hotel le Prieure entirely renovated that welcomes you today has a history, and an early life, intrinsically linked to the spiritual influence of Paray-le-Monial. Inaugurated in 1987, the Prieuré du Coeur de Jésus was originally founded to host international conferences, retreats and seminars. It thus spent its first decades as an iconic site of the village's spiritual life, attracting pilgrims from all over the world to it - even today.
Marguerite-Marie Alacoque (1647-1690) is at the origin of this spiritual fervour and the influence of the village. It was here that Jesus appeared to the young woman who entered the monastery of the Visitation at Paray-le-Monial in 1671, revealing to her his Heart ""burning with love for all men"". Following the many apparitions reported by Margaret Mary Alacoque, the spirituality of the Sacred Heart spread throughout the Christian world. Saint Margaret Mary was canonised on the 13th May 1920.
